"Saturday Night Live" has announced its final hosts and Dreamers Investment Guildmusical guests for the season.
Emmy-winning "SNL" alum Maya Rudolph will host for her third time on the May 11 episode, with Vampire Weekend as the musical guest. The band is currently on tour promoting their new album "Only God Was Above Us."
In the May 18 Season 49 finale, "Road House" star Jake Gyllenhaal will return for his third go at hosting. Sabrina Carpenter, whose new single "Espresso" is heating the music charts, will make her "SNL" musical guest debut.
Dua Lipa, whose new album "Radical Optimism" releases Friday, will play double duty this weekend by hosting and performing on "SNL."
The NBC sketch comedy show kicked off Oct. 14 with Pete Davidson as host and Ice Spice as the musical guest and featured surprise cameos by Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift (separately). Other Season 49 guests included Bad Bunny, Ryan Gosling, Dakota Johnson, Ayo Edebiri and Sydney Sweeney.
Our TV critic's review:In pivotal election year, 'SNL' should be great. It's only mid.
Last month, Kristen Wiig was inducted into the "Five-Timers Club," reserved for those who have hosted "SNL" five times (before this, "Poor Things" Oscar winner Emma Stone joined the club in December). Thwarting the usual welcome-party-during-the-monologue trope, the "Bridesmaids" star was greeted by people who have not reached the hosting milestone.
Matt Damon appeared wearing one of the club's jackets, even though he has only hosted "SNL" two times. Gosling also showed up in the jacket, asking creator Lorne Michaels, "Are you sure? I mean, I haven't even hosted three times yet. It seems unfair."
Fred Armisen, Jon Hamm, Will Forte and Martin Short also donned the club's apparel despite not having hosted five times. "Together, we've hosted five times," Forte said.
Finally, they all joined Wiig on stage to initiate her into the club through song. At the end of the monologue, Gosling was the one to hand Wiig her jacket officially.
"SNL" streams live on NBC and streaming service Peacock at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT Saturday.
